RN Programs

Rural communities are now the main attention for all the health care professionals. Rural health care training is being provided in greater volume. According to the Health Minister Theresa Oswald the best way to increase the number of health professionals working in rural areas is to train them in the same sector. The provincial government is investing in programs like LPN and RN programs.

Assiniboine Community College will be offering LPN programs in Steinbach and Red River College will offer the RN programs and LPN to RN programs in Portage la Prairie, Morden/Winkler, Gimli and Neepawa. This program will start in 2009-10. The course is of 18 months and will allow the LPNs to continue their education by saying closer to home.

RN programs are always time taking. It takes around 18 to 24 months to complete one program. Scenario has changed in Michigan. Around 100 registered nurses are getting enrolled in the BSN program which is two year nursing program. A two year old Robert B. Miller College has already started a room for many.

Miller College has signed an agreement with most of the community colleges surrounding Battle Creek that offer RN programs. Nurses can take up to eight general- education classes at Miller College but not nursing classes. It is not that pay is the only attraction for nurses. All the nurses often do the same work.

Loyalist College started a new practical program which includes classroom theory, lab work and clinical practice. This course consists of theory as well as placement to the Quinte Health Care (QHC). The hospital is giving more emphasis on assessment and utmost medication of all the diseases. The students who are enrolling for this course must have good communication, observation and assessment skill. Along with the key skills, they have empathy and better understanding with patients.

The mental retarded patients needs emotional support more so the doctors must see patient like their near and dear ones.  This course is more about listening, understanding, communicating and taking care of the effected ones. The new doctors will get an opportunity to work under an experienced nurse of Quinte Health Care. It will be in clinical rotation to have hands on experience in medication for all the doctors.

In Thornville, Autumn Health Care has announced a nursing and rehabilitation centre full of all facilities for the patients and employees. It must be of 50- bed and offers comfy environment to the patients. Non-registered patients can also avail these services. The rehabilitation center features 70 foot fully lighthouse, which is also giving light to the life of patients.

The inauguration takes place on Oct 23, 2008 with a grand party at Zion Road, Thornville. During an interview President as well as Chief Executive officer of Autumn Health Care, announced that they will also provide facilities for the private patients. The center is also providing facilities in Newark, Somerset, Zanesville, Coshocton, Cambridge, and Mount Vernon. Now Autumn health will be the seventh one to avail them.

Hale Makua Nursing Home is launching a new project today where they are allowing elderly people, in need of nursing, to live at home instead of moving to nursing home. Hale Makua is a good place to work and a suitable nursing home for any senior citizen. Under the program, would come to nursing home during the day for a variety of services and by evening will return to their homes.

The program would be carried out by a doctor and a registered nurse with a number of professionals. Seniors in the program are provided transportation to and from the PACE Center at the Hale Makua Kahului site. The PACE Center is where senior citizens will receive most of their health care services. A public informational meeting on the program was held from 5 to 6 p.m. on October 3rd at the Cameron Center.

A new report has been released by the Department of Health and Human Services. The report states that most of the nursing homes in US are in the violation of federal safety and health care standards. The report was released by the inspector general for the HHS, Daniel R. Levinson, on September 29th.

All the nursing homes that were violating were at a huge loss, remaining were on for a profit. There are over 15,000 nursing homes in the US that care for over a million elderly Americans. Currently Rhode Island nursing homes are providing the best services. It is said that all the nursing homes that were in violation could cause harm to patients.

The Netherlands-based company focuses on the development of smart pharmaceutical packaging solutions that contain microchips which enable the monitoring of a patient's therapy compliances. The new system will help both patients and nurses taking part in clinical studies to take their pills at the right time. Caregivers and pharmaceutical companies will be able to better diagnose or judge the effectiveness of medical care. This can help to substantially reduce healthcare costs.

Plymouth is known to be the best place in England for providing emergency healthcare; a nationwide report has revealed this. The Health Care Commission has published in its review that Plymouth is at the top of all 152 Primary Care Trust in England. The result showed an excellent performance across all the services including ambulance, accident and emergency, out-of-the-hour’s emergency care and minor injury unit.

John Richard, chief Executive of NHS Plymouth told that they have provided excellent urgent and emergency services which cannot be done by any one National Health Society alone. Not only this it’s particularly pleasing that Plymouth has also achieved patient satisfaction along with quality assurance with the doctors.
