Recently, 5 RNs received grants for their online graduate study which was designed to help with the shortage of nurses in rural areas. The grant was comprised of $10K scholarships from OHCWC (Oklahoma Health Care Workforce Center).

This is only the beginning of this campaign to helping nurses in rural areas. The Oklahoma trust is just one 11 organizations in the US to receive funding that is part of a federal 10 million dollar plan. This is great news for nursing students and shows that organizations are taking action to help students receive their nursing education. Initiatives like this should help greatly in reducing the nursing shortage.
