The first National summit on the crisis caused by Canada’s nursing shortage begins today. Around 200 educators, researchers and government representatives have gathered in Gatineau. Report says that every year the country is running short of 2,500 nurses. It has been predicted that by 2011 there will be shortage of 78,000 registered nurses.
To overcome this problem Saskatchewan is bringing nurses from Philippines and Quebec imports them from France. Some jurisdictions have offered new graduates a six month term in which they are not expected to take the whole work load. There will be around two days of discussion and some profitable conclusion will be drawn out.
