Indian Nursing Council (INC) has provided better medical services in rural areas. They will soon introduce independent nurse practitioner programs in Maharashtra along with other states. Under this program trained nurses will handle normal deliveries and primary health care centers in the absence of doctors.

The INC will provide the State Nursing Council a course module so that they can start training nurses. For this the Government of India has sanctioned nurses to start practicing. The program will be inaugurated by the former president of India APJ Abdul Kalam in the city. The practice has already started in states like Gujarat, West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
