The shortage of nurses in Michigan has become critical. Michigan House Health Policy Committee reported that Michigan’s demand for registered nurses will exceed gradually by 2010. There will be shortage of 18,000 nurses by 2015. Most of the universities and schools of nursing are expanding their programs to provide some need to ease the situation.

Eastern Michigan University’s School of Nursing is expanding its degree programs. The EMU president, Susan Martin, believes that with the help of the provost and faculty they will be able to increase their pre licensure placements from 80 to 112, in 2009. There’s even more encouragement that is required in Michigan to promote nursing. The Nursing education will improve the quality of healthcare in Michigan.
