More nursing students in West Virginia passed their licensure exams last year in 2007. Members of the state Higher Education Policy Commission could not believe on the increasing rates of nursing students when the state ranked worst in the country.

Pamela Alderman, president of the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses said that they have been working very hard as they knew it was tough year for the state. The administration has been examining weakness in their curriculum. In 2007 West Virginia ranked 50th last among the states but that year about 81 percent of students passed their exams.
